Jon spent his first working decade in brand strategy, both in some of London’s top agencies and also directly for Sainsbury’s and the National Trust, all the time seeking to apply creative skills for positive social and environmental ends. He is both geek and athlete, having completed three Master’s degrees and as many Ironman-distance triathlons.
Katie draws on her background in theatre to develop New Citizenship Project’s creative facilitation and participation techniques, allowing us to work with people in a variety of ways. Katie has designed and delivered workshops, co-creation sessions and other participatory processes in a range of sectors and with a variety of individuals, from cultural heritage to health and social care and the third sector. She is passionate about the stories we discover, tell and put out into the world.
Irenie co-founded the New Citizenship Project in 2014, having started her career in the advertising industry, leading teams creating award-winning campaigns for brands from the BBC to Unilever. After a stint getting paid to travel the world as MD of an archaeological tour operator, she became a campaigner and patient advocate after contracting a serious eye illness which left her blind in one eye. Irenie has since won a number of awards for her Patient Leadership work.
Tendai has a background in social enterprise and placed-based regeneration, having also worked in consultancy roles spanning the public, tech, media, culture and charity sectors. In 2016 Tendai co-founded UCOZ, a network of Zimbabweans amplifying the citizen’s voice in shaping a better future for their nation. This experience has allowed to him experience the CitizenShift in practice, seeing first hand how greater involvement can powerfully change outcomes.
After covering the credit boom as a financial journalist and dealing with the crash as a PR consultant at Edelman, Oliver now applies his research skills and strategic thinking to building a more democratic and participatory economy. In recent years, he has worked with social enterprises, co-operatives, community-owned business and profit-for-purpose B Corps to help them think, act and communicate more clearly.
Anna (currently on mat leave) is Head of Strategy for New Citizenship Project working across sectors to help organisations make the shift from selling to Consumers to involving Citizens. With a background in brand development for the National Trust and London 2012 Paralympics, Anna cares greatly about harnessing the power of business for good social and environmental ends.
Polly began her career in account management at Apple’s creative agency, Media Arts Lab. She left the advertising world to work as a Business Director for entertainment company Sunshine, where she led projects for clients such as the BBC, Nike Foundation, Diageo & London Philharmonic Orchestra. As an alumni of the Comms Lab’s Reclaiming Agency programme, Polly has a focus on driving positive change in the industry and beyond, through purpose-driven business leadership & collaborative innovation.
Andy supports NCP's administration, social media and events. He was our client whilst an officer at the University of Bath Students’ Union, looking at how students can be citizens of The SU, rather than just its consumers. After understanding the benefits this approach can bring to an organisation, Andy was inspired to join us, working on similar projects across different sectors. In his spare time, Andy can be found on the basketball court or pursuing his passion for travel and photography.
Helen is Head of Strategy (mat cover) at the New Citizenship Project, working with clients across a range of sectors to help catalyse the shift to a more participatory society. She is an experienced creative strategist, campaigner and former CEO with over 15 years experience of collaborative campaigns, public engagement and influencing work. She is passionate about enabling people to connect with nature to improve the health of both people and planet.
